Where did Piss Poor come from?

Urine used to be used to tan animal skins, so families would all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & sold to the tannery.......if you had to do this to survive you were "Piss Poor".

But worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn't even afford to buy a pot......they "didn't have a pot to piss in" & were the lowest of the low.

The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about the 1500s:

Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and they still smelled pretty good by June.. However, since they were starting to smell . ..... . Brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it.. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water!"

Houses had thatched roofs-thick straw-piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof... Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."

There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence.

The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying, "Dirt poor." The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more thresh until, when you opened the door, it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entrance-way. Hence: a thresh hold.

In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire.. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes stew had food in it that had been there for quite a while. Hence the rhyme: Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old.

Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could, "bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and chew the fat.

Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.

Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or the upper crust.

Sometimes knock the imbibers out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of holding a wake.

England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a bone-house, and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive... So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift) to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be saved by the bell or was considered a dead ringer.

And that's the truth....Now, whoever said History was boring ! ! !

Former Death Row Records CEO Marion "Suge" Knight is a free man, despite rumors and reports of his arrest.

Rumors rampantly spread through the internet beginning early Wednesday morning (December 29) claiming that Suge Knight was arrested by Los Angeles police for the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. The rumor was fueled by social networking sites such as twitter, where many radio personalities throughout the country picked up on the false information.

The rumor stemmed from the release of a video on YouTube, which shows a previously recorded Fox Los Angeles news cast reporting on the murder and documentary of the late rapper. Footage from a recent arrest of Suge Knight from KTLA was mashed up with news video, where a reporter stated that the fallen rap mogul had been arrested for Tupac's murder. Despite the authentic look of the video, discrepancies could be found in the video, including the date of the arrest footage, along with poorly dubbed audio over one of the reporters' voices.

Hey, what can I say it's mixtape review day. I was Really impressed with Bun-B on Grindin all night. City I Know had some real good flow, I think that Roccett was best on this track, How we roll, would've been a better track if the beat was better. I would love to get the accapellas to remix, y'know cause the verses are tight. That's something I've been noticing lately, there's a lack of good ideas in the mixtape universe "the hook" is where you make or break your title, so get on that heavy. The end of Holla at Yah Boi, was halarious at that point I wanted to smash the speakers too. Platini, does alright but I can't take him seriously on this beat, reminds me of Zr0 or KRS Bring it Back is short for a reason another track where I think the artist and the talent gets overshadowed by a shitty beat.Young Riot, there's a unique voice, a unique twist to it, that's important. I really feel "Be Afraid" the caliber on there is on point, great stuff there. Roccett is complimented by G Malone and Jay Rock. Maybe I'm akin to likin this style more because of the shit we are going threw lately, but really up in Canada gangsta is where it's at. Y'know what I'm a big super fan of Mouce. I hosted an original mixtape from Mouce, I'm glad to see he's making super moves with this track Big City. I really, love Mouce and not in a gay way, he's on his way up for sure. I'm sorry to report the only song I like from Bigg Jigg on this mixtape is "Millionaire Walk". The track "Better" by iLLa is a dope chiller track, like that. M Hey Rant Line™, I just wanted to say that I kicked the Arcade Fire’s ass in BASKETBALL. True story! Last summer in the DJ SPORTS LEAGUE, we played them in the semi-finals, and the tall lead singer guy who’s about 6’5” got his ass kicked by me. I think I scored 32 points and we won at the last second by two points. Also the dude with the long brown hair is on that team. M I just want to say to all you bands out there with your crappy demo CDs, stop giving them away, man. The minute you give away a CD, it’s CERTIFIED WORTHLESS and I throw it onto a BIG PILE in the corner. But on another note, I was going through that pile and I found a really ugly looking CD and I kind of wanted to listen to it. And it turned out to be this band Tank Whale and it sucked! [BLEEP!]

Ok finally I got about a second to tell you some shit about the massive mixtape collaboration.

It's been said, I may have completely lost my mind, but I'm going to do the biggest mixtape collaboration project of the decade. Forget anything you think you know about a mixtape. A couple artists get on a single and blast it out, nah nah. We all go home, then nobody hears from you again. This... is a LOT different. Something insane.

I can't tell you the name of the project...

I can't tell you what the cover is going to look like...

I can't even tell you how many people are going to be a part of this, but the # is high already.

But, I can let you in on something, I want you. If you're a hot artist and you think you got what it takes to be a part of a multi-country multi-artist mixtape; then email me back in reply to this message. If you are a beat maker, and you want your company logo, and your tracks blasted across the planet. Get at me right away. This is time sensitive limited opportunity.

This is a 20+ track mixtape, 3 artists per track. Pass it like a joint collaboration among artists in the bankrupt family.

This mixtape everyone is going to blast out to their fans. Each artist, that means at 20 tracks, x 3 artists x lets give a small # of fans at 1,000 that'll go out to 60,000 fans. I'm sure most of you rival 1,000 fans so this is massive.

Ah, Ke$ha. It’s hard to say how I feel about the ho. On one hand, she makes me worry for the scrawny pre-teen girls getting ready for school to her music. But the sleazy chick inside of me just keeps wanting to give her a chance.
Her new EP “Cannibal” is a follow-up to her last album “Animal,” which I will shamefully admit was not so bad-ish. Meaning I maybe added a few tracks onto some CDs that I made for my car, no big deal.

Unfortunately, “Cannibal” was an all too hasty attempt at trying to recreate the party-girl vibe of Ke$ha’s last album. What was good on “Animal” — the I’m-gonna-party-all-night-and-brush-my-teeth-with-hard-alcohol-and-maybe-grab-some-guy’s-junk-in-a-club thing — is overdone on “Cannibal” and, after listening to it, was just played out.
The opening track, “Cannibal,” starts off with a pretty cool beat and Ke$ha’s signature white girl rap, but after the first few lines, it just gets plain weird: “I think you’re hot, I think you’re cool/You’re the kinda guy I’d stalk in school/But now that I’m famous, you’re up my anus/Now I’m gonna eat you fool!” …what? Why is he up her anus? And, more importantly, why does that make her want to eat him? The chorus continues with “I eat boys up, breakfast and lunch/Then when I’m thirsty, I drink their blood,” in which the creepy and random analogy only overshadows Ke$ha’s shot at trying to be original in her songwriting. Although, at the end she does deliver a pretty good “roar.” I’ll give her that.
The next couple of songs are easier to bear. “We R Who We R,” which is her single out right now, had the same effect on me as “TiK ToK” did last year. It’s obnoxious, the lyrics are all about partying all night and she makes too many references to the DJ, but it’s fun to blast in your car as you shut your windows and put on your sunglasses for disguise.
Then there’s “Sleazy,” which from the name you’d think would be the worst track on the album. Alas, you are mistaken! Ke$ha sing-raps about the hoard of guys trying to impress her with their fat stacks of dough, and responds with, “I don’t need you or your brand new Benz/Or your bougie friends/I don’t need love, looking like diamonds/Looking like diamonds” followed by a 21-second block of “get sleazy.” Perhaps you won’t relate to the lyrics like I do, but the beat and hip-hop sound make for a good song to dance to … in a sleazy way.
From there, the rest of the album is just plain downhill with the exception of one ballad (yes, Ke$ha apparently sings ballads) entitled “The Harold Song.” It starts off with a “Teenage Dream”-esque vibe and segues into Ke$ha gushing about a lost love, probably named Harold. The lack of autotune and uncommon depth of her lyrics make for a legitimately emotional song when she sings, “They say that true love hurts, well this could almost kill me … /I would give it all to not be sleeping alone” and “It was my past life, a beautiful time/Drunk off of nothing but each other ‘til the sunrise.” Dang, Ke$ha, I had no idea! Maybe you should put down the Jack and write like this more often.
Unfortunately, the song is sandwiched between songs like “Blow” and “Crazy Beautiful Life,” which just smack us back into the immature and grody mind that is Ke$ha. At some point, singing about partying ‘til the sunrise (which seems to happen every night for her), eating boys (?) and running an excessively dirty mouth gets really, really old. And that point is now.
I will close with a few wise lines from the song “Grow a Pear,” which if you couldn’t tell is a reference to testicles. “Yeah I think you’re hot/I think you’re alright/But you’re acting like a chick all the time/You were cool and now you’re not just like that/When you grow a pair/You can call me back” and the grand finale, “But I just can’t date a dude with a vag.”
Did she just say vag? Yes. “Vag” as in “vagina.”
Sadly, Ke$ha didn’t win my heart this time with “Cannibal.” I think I got my sleazy music fill with her last album. If she doesn’t think of new material soon, I wouldn’t suggest putting out another album anytime in the near future. Until then, I’ll save my “Cannibal” album as my soundtrack to taking lukewarm Smirnoff shots out of Dixie cups. While getting “Sleazy,” naturally.

#breakingnews DMX is back in jail

He has been out on parole on an assault conviction. This is his sixth arrest in Maricopa County, which has been his home for ten years. DMX is hitting the down low once again. The rap artist was arrested in Miami on Monday, June 23 for not having a valid driver's license. DMX was arrested again on a felony charge of violating his parole on Thursday, reports MTV News. According to reports, the MC was picked up and jailed for not checking in with his probation officer.

"He just didn't check in with his probation officer, and it's just a matter of him not following the rules," manager Nakia Walker told MTV News on Friday. She confirmed that the rapper is being held without bail until a probation-revocation hearing, which is scheduled for next Wednesday.

This isn’t the first time the embattled star has been in jail. When asked why he often ends up in the slammer, Walker said, "Because he's not perfect. This is a difficult time in his life. He's going through some things. ... Sh-- happens. I can't tell you why he makes the decisions to do the things that he does. Other than that, there's no real excuse for it. When you don't follow the rules, there's consequences."

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was picked up at about 1:30 P.M. Monday on an arrest warrant for not having a valid driver's license. He was later on taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Institute, where a spokeswoman said he remained behind bars until at about 5:30 P.M. His bond, according to reports, is set at $500. A message left with a New York attorney who has represented DMX in a bid to seek comment on his latest arrest was not immediately returned.

Lloyd Banks Responds

“I always catch wind of what’s going on and somebody brought my attention to it, I saw it on Twitterbut I don’t really got too much negative to say about the situation because I’ve dedicated so much time to myself, to get somebody else attention due to negativity but what I can say is we did that dance already,” Banks said in an interview with radio host Suava. “We did that dance where we formed the group G-Unit to establish ourselves as solo artists and I think it’s time for us to pay 50 [Cent] back. It’s reverse now. I’m out here trying to better myself as an individual so that when we do form the monster known as the group G-Unit, it’ll be that much easier on us. So, if anything, that situation would be going backwards. It’s too late to cry over spilled milk. I would be interested to see if those same attempts to reach out to 50 Cent would be happening if he had a number one record on the radio.”
